A 24-year-old pregnant woman, Shivani Kumari, took her own life by hanging at her residence on Devi Mandap Road, under the Tiliya police station area in Koderma. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday evening. A neighbor, Sapan Kumar, reported hearing distress sounds from Shivani’s home and immediately went to investigate. He discovered her body inside the house. Shivani’s sister stated that she had taken her life by hanging. The victim, who was nine months pregnant, was expected to deliver this month. Her sister was present to help with the delivery. It was reported that Shivani had a dispute with her husband and sister earlier in the day. Following the argument, her husband went to a different room, while Shivani went to another. Later, her husband was awakened by the children’s cries and found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan in her room. The body was taken down and brought to Sadar Hospital Koderma. Shivani was the mother of two children and her husband is a fruit seller. The couple lived in a rented house. Police were alerted and initiated an investigation at the scene. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
