In a significant initiative, the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, hosted a medico-legal awareness and medical check-up camp for elderly residents at the Jhumritilaiya old age home. This event, aligned with the instructions from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, aimed to ensure that senior citizens are informed about their legal entitlements and receive prompt medical attention.

A key segment of the program involved an online broadcast from Ranchi, where the Executive Chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the Mother Teresa Clinic at an old age home in Nagri. This event also featured the distribution of vital medical supplies and other welfare scheme benefits to the senior citizens present.

Bal Krishna Tiwari, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, underscored the moral obligation to honor and respect the elderly. He emphasized the authority’s resolve to protect the rights and fundamental liberties of senior citizens, stating that respect for elders is a cornerstone of progress and that the authority takes pride in serving this demographic.

He encouraged the younger generation to learn from the experiences of their elders and to be attentive to their needs. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, assured that free legal assistance would be readily available to the elderly to secure their rights. He committed the authority to providing comprehensive support to enhance the quality of life for residents in the old age home.

Members of the Koderma Health Department conducted thorough medical examinations for all elderly participants. The Principal District Judge directed the medical team to ensure regular health assessments and continuous supply of medicines. He personally interacted with the residents to understand their concerns and to evaluate the facility’s operational standards.

To further support the residents, a joint effort by the District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration provided essential items like blankets, warm clothing, sweets, and other necessary materials, aiming to improve their comfort and living conditions.
