The court, comprising Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar, had previously shown displeasure with the progress report of the examination, prompted by a public interest litigation initiated by economist Jean Dreze, and mandated a timeline. The JSSC was instructed to file an affidavit with a clear schedule.
