Cybercrime poses a growing threat in today’s tech-driven world. From everyday citizens to top officials, no one is immune to the schemes of cybercriminals. Incidents range from fake accounts mimicking high-ranking officials to the misuse of official identities.

In a recent development, the official X account of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a prominent political party in Jharkhand, was hacked. The handle @JmmJharkhand was compromised, resulting in the posting of unauthorized content. Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM’s central president, Hemant Soren, confirmed the breach.

CM Soren, via his official social media channels, announced that the JMM’s official account had been hacked by malicious actors. He called for an immediate investigation and swift action from @JharkhandPolice, labeling it a serious cyber crime. He also tagged @XCorpIndia and @GlobalAffairs, urging them to intervene and help secure the account. He expressed hope that those responsible would be held accountable.

The hacking of the JMM’s social media account has sparked widespread discussion, with attention focused on the response of the state’s cyber cell and technical agencies. This incident follows prior instances of cybercriminals creating fake social media profiles of Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta and senior IAS officer Manju Nath Bhajantri for fraudulent purposes.
