RANCHI: A massive political storm has erupted in Jharkhand over allegations that nearly 10,000 crore rupees have vanished from the state treasury. Opposition Leader Babulal Marandi ignited the controversy on Tuesday, firing pointed questions at the state government via social media platform X.
Marandi highlighted the finance minister’s repeated demands for accountability from relevant departments, which have gone unanswered. He revealed that officials were instructed to convene a meeting on the finance minister’s orders, yet no such meeting took place, and no explanations were provided at any level.
The opposition leader accused the government of systematically withdrawing funds from the treasury without any records of where or how the money was spent. ‘The blatant disregard for the finance minister’s directives clearly indicates that officials have been ordered to stay silent,’ Marandi stated.
He further alleged a dangerous centralization of power, claiming ministers from the Congress quota have been rendered powerless and cannot make independent decisions in their departments.
This issue has now escalated to national discourse. Marandi pointed out that the chief secretary has been sitting on the investigation file for the past three months, deepening suspicions amid the government’s silence.
Vowing to expose the scam, Marandi affirmed that as a strong opposition, they will bring this to the public’s attention and push for a thorough probe by competent agencies to ensure strict punishment for the guilty.
