Ranchi is bracing for a weather shift as the meteorological department forecasts light rainfall across eight districts of Jharkhand on February 3 and 4. This unexpected precipitation comes amid fluctuating temperatures, signaling a dynamic atmospheric pattern influenced by a western disturbance.

On February 3, the northwestern regions including Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra are likely to experience mild showers. The following day, February 4, southern districts such as East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Saraikela-Kharsawan will see similar weather activity. Experts attribute this to a low-pressure system forming due to the western disturbance, which often brings moisture-laden winds to the region.

Morning fog is expected in parts of the state, clearing up as the day progresses. Temperature trends indicate a dip of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum readings over the next two days, followed by a rebound. This volatility could impact daily commutes and agricultural activities, urging residents to stay prepared.

Recent observations show Chaibasa recording the highest temperature at 30.8°C, while the lowest dipped to 10.8°C statewide. In Ranchi, Thursday’s maximum was 26.8°C with a minimum of 15.1°C. Jamshedpur saw 29.5°C high and 16.2°C low, Daltonganj 28.8°C/11.6°C, Bokaro 27.5°C/15.1°C, Khunti 28°C/12.8°C, Lohardaga 27.4°C/13.5°C, Latehar 22.8°C/11.9°C, and Saraikela 29.9°C/14°C.

Cloudy skies and chilly breezes dominated Ranchi and surrounding areas throughout Thursday, keeping the winter chill alive despite mild daytime highs. Farmers and commuters are advised to monitor updates closely, as such weather patterns can lead to slippery roads and sudden chills. The department emphasizes vigilance, especially in rural pockets where fog might reduce visibility.

As Jharkhand navigates this transitional weather, the forecast underscores the state’s vulnerability to such disturbances during early February, a time when dry spells are more common. Stay tuned for real-time updates as conditions evolve.
