    A major success for the security forces in Jharkhand as nine extremists from the banned Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) surrendered with advanced weaponry. This marks a significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism and extremism. The surrender occurred in Latehar district, influenced by the Jharkhand government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy. Among the surrendered weapons were multiple AK-47 rifles, SLR rifles, and other high-tech firearms, along with a large quantity of ammunition and magazines. Five of the surrendered extremists had a combined reward of 23 lakh rupees. The surrender included important figures like Zonal Commander Ravindra Yadav. The surrendered weapons included 04 AK-47s, 01 AK-56, 03 SLRs, 02 .303 rifles, and 01 semi-rifle. A total of 1782 rounds and 26 magazines were also seized. The surrender of nine extremists from a single gang with such a collection of advanced weapons is a significant achievement for the security forces and is a landmark moment since the formation of Jharkhand. The Inspector General of Operations, Michael Raj S, stated that this is the biggest success achieved since the formation of the state. The aim is to make Jharkhand completely Naxal-free by the end of 2025.
