Jharkhand is burning: Heat breaks records, temperature reaches 47.5 °C in Daltonganj, 40.2 °C in Ranchi

Ranchi: According to Ranchi Meteorological Center, Jharkhand state has seen a significant increase in maximum temperature from 28 May today, in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature has increased by 8 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, the heat has broken the record of the month of May in Jharkhand. On 28 May, the temperature of Daltonganj was recorded at 47.5 °C. Which is the highest maximum temperature of this decade for Daltonganj in the month of May. Earlier, the record of all-time maximum temperature in May is 47.8° which was recorded on 6 May 1978. Apart from Daltonganj, the maximum temperature was recorded at 47.2 in Garhwa, 43.3 in Chaibasa and 40.2 °C in the capital Ranchi. In the last 24 hours, light rain with thunderstorms occurred at some places in the state. The highest rainfall of 6.5 mm was recorded in Pakur. The highest maximum temperature of 41.5 °C was recorded in Daltonganj, while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.9 °C was recorded in Giridih.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of severe heat wave at some places in Garhwa, Palamu and Chatra districts of the state on Wednesday. On 30 May, there will be heat wave conditions at some places in the western, southern and adjacent central parts of the state. There is a possibility of heat wave at some places in the north-western part of the state on 31 May. According to the department, the maximum temperature in the state may increase by 3-5 °C during the next 2 days.
