Ranchi is bracing for hotter days as temperatures across Jharkhand climb steadily. On Sunday, Saraykela’s mercury soared to 36 degrees Celsius, the highest recorded, while Daltonganj clocked 35.4°C and Jamshedpur hit 35.8°C. Bokaro wasn’t far behind at 34.1°C. These readings signal the onset of summer’s grip in the state.
In the capital Ranchi, conditions remained relatively mild at 30.8°C maximum, with Latehar at 26.3°C and Lohardaga at 30.4°C. Clear skies and moderate winds in Ranchi and surrounding areas kept the daytime heat at bay during the morning hours. Partial clouds appeared later in the afternoon, offering some respite.
Meteorologists warn of further escalation, predicting a 2-3 degree rise in maximum temperatures over the coming days. While urban centers like Ranchi still feel comfortable, rural and industrial districts are already experiencing intense warmth. Minimum temperatures also varied, with Chaibasa recording a low of 14.4°C and Daltonganj at 16.5°C.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid peak sun hours, and monitor weather updates closely. As Jharkhand transitions into peak summer, the heatwave could intensify agricultural challenges and strain power supplies. The India Meteorological Department continues to track these shifts, urging preparedness across all sectors.
