RANCHI: In a heartfelt plea amid rising political tensions, Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has expressed profound distress over the politicization of healthcare initiatives. Speaking at a crucial meeting of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) governing body, he urged all political parties to rise above partisanship and support the construction of RIMS-2, a vital upgrade to the state’s overburdened medical infrastructure.
Dr. Ansari highlighted the unprecedented surge in patient footfall at RIMS, attributing it to growing public trust in government hospitals. ‘For the first time in history, thousands are flocking to RIMS for treatment,’ he noted, emphasizing the urgent need for better patient flow management to ensure no one faces delays or discomfort.
The minister detailed ongoing efforts to modernize facilities: recruiting more doctors, upgrading pathology labs, and enhancing support for nursing and other staff. His vision is clear—every patient should receive world-class care and return home healthy.
Addressing criticisms surrounding RIMS-2, Dr. Ansari dismissed personal or political motives. ‘I have no ulterior agenda, no eye on land or power. My only goal is to ensure funding never hinders healthcare progress,’ he asserted, making a direct appeal to opposition leaders for cooperation.
He painted a grim picture of the current reality: countless Jharkhand residents forced to seek critical care in neighboring states, incurring massive expenses, and sometimes facing tragic outcomes, including last rites performed far from home. ‘This is heartbreaking,’ he said, folding his hands in an emotional call for unity.
As political debates intensify ahead of elections, Dr. Ansari’s message underscores a fundamental truth: health is a human issue that transcends party lines. With RIMS-2, Jharkhand could transform into a healthcare hub, saving lives and sparing families unimaginable pain. The ball is now in the court of every leader committed to public welfare.
