Jharkhand Govt Under Fire for Alleged Cover-Up Tactics

A significant controversy has erupted in Jharkhand, with allegations that the state government is actively fabricating new crimes to conceal existing ones. Opposition leader Babulal Marandi has publicly stated that the government and its associated systems have adopted a practice of manufacturing offenses as a cover-up strategy. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions targeting the extensive coal operations in Dhanbad have reportedly uncovered startling evidence. The situation is deemed particularly perilous as certain “senior police officers,” allegedly enriched by illegal coal trade profits, are rumored to have tasked mafia foot soldiers with eliminating key individuals. These individuals are allegedly being targeted because they are currently under ED investigation, aiming to prevent any damaging truths from emerging. Marandi warned that the state has a history of staging “encounter killings” to dispose of evidence rather than capture culprits. He drew parallels to a former DGP implicated in contract killings and extreme corruption, accusations that were reportedly voiced even by ruling party figures. He emphasized that the ED must proceed with utmost caution, as the prevailing environment allegedly protects those who suppress facts. Marandi’s statement highlighted that when political power, administrative machinery, and criminal syndicates operate in unison, the manipulation of justice becomes a predictable consequence.
