In a chilling crime that has shocked Jharkhand, police in Dumka district have cracked a gruesome double murder case involving a mother and her daughter. The horrific incident unfolded when a man attempted to sexually assault the victims, and in a fit of rage after their resistance, brutally killed them before hiding their bodies in bushes.
The bodies were discovered on Wednesday near Sindhiya Chowk in the Nagar police station area, behind the Inspector’s office amidst thick shrubbery. Identified as residents of Kathikund police station limits, the mother and daughter had met a violent end. Dumka police swiftly registered a murder case against an unknown accused and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Within just three days, leveraging technical surveillance and CCTV footage, the SIT zeroed in on the prime suspect, Junaid Ansari. During interrogation, Ansari confessed to the barbaric act. Spotting the duo in a secluded spot, he lured them under false pretenses, attempted to rape the mother, and when she fought back fiercely, beat her to death. Not stopping there, he strangled her young daughter to silence her cries.
To cover his tracks, Ansari dumped the bodies in a bush pile and fled with Rs 5,000 cash and other belongings from the mother. Acting on solid leads, police arrested him promptly, recovering all stolen items. This swift action underscores the efficiency of Jharkhand’s law enforcement in tackling heinous crimes against women.
The case has reignited debates on women’s safety in rural areas, with authorities vowing stricter patrols and faster justice. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of two innocent lives brutally snatched away in a moment of unimaginable cruelty.
