Jharkhand Braces for Heavy Rain: Weather Update and Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall for at least eight districts in Jharkhand tomorrow. Thunderstorms and lightning are also anticipated in multiple areas. The monsoon trough’s current position over Daltonganj is the primary factor influencing the weather, leading to expected heavy rainfall in the western and southern parts of the state. A yellow alert has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and West Singhbhum. The IMD anticipates stable maximum temperatures for the next five days. On July 7, 2025, most parts of Jharkhand are likely to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. In the past 24 hours, Jamshedpur recorded 62.6 mm of rainfall, Ranchi 9.2 mm, Daltonganj 27.2 mm, Bokaro Thermal 9.6 mm, Chaibasa 4.1 mm, Khunti 1 mm, Garhwa and Saraikela 0.5 mm each, and Gumla 1.5 mm. Rainfall accumulation from June 1 to July 6, 2025, shows Ranchi leading with 740.7 mm, followed by Jamshedpur with 702.7 mm. Daltonganj registered 342.3 mm, Bokaro Thermal 490.7 mm, and Chaibasa 528.6 mm. Jharkhand has seen a 69% surplus in rainfall, with 417.2 mm compared to the normal 246.2 mm. Ranchi is expected to have a day with cloudy skies, with light to moderate rainfall likely. The maximum temperature is expected to be 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum 24 degrees Celsius.
