Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai was actively involved in multiple events honoring Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary this past Saturday. His engagements included a tribute at JP School in Sankosai, Mango, an observance organized by the All India Kayastha Mahasabha in Mango, and a program arranged by the Janata Dal (United).
During his address as the chief guest at the JD(U) program, Rai emphasized the historical importance of the 1974 JP movement. He painted a picture of India in 1974, a period marked by widespread corruption and abuses of power, where courage to speak out was scarce. According to Rai, Jayaprakash Narayan stepped in, uniting the youth and launching the ‘Sampurna Kranti’ movement. He asserted that Narayan’s ability to rally people led to significant pressure on the government. Rai pointed out that this movement not only ushered in a fresh era of political awareness but also marked the beginning of political careers for numerous established leaders of today. He also spoke about his own participation, explaining his role in guiding the energy of the young participants.
The event saw the presence of many distinguished Janata Dal (United) leaders, party cadres, and community members. They reiterated their dedication to the principles of JP and their commitment to a society built on fairness and transparency in politics. The collective chant of ‘Sampurna Kranti’ marked the end of the gathering.
