A high-stakes rescue operation unfolded in Jharkhand’s Patrahatu village on Tuesday after a wild hyena strayed into a government school, placing the lives of over 50 students at risk. The predator, which had wandered from the nearby forest into the residential area of Silli, sparked widespread panic as it ran through the village streets. Seeking shelter from the growing commotion, the animal dashed into a classroom where students were in the middle of their lessons. In a moment of remarkable presence of mind, local villagers managed to lock the classroom door from the outside, effectively confining the animal before it could harm anyone. Specialists from the Birsa Munda Biological Park in Ranchi were dispatched to the site, and the operation lasted approximately three hours. Wildlife experts eventually managed to tranquilize and secure the hyena. The animal has been taken to the biological park for medical evaluation and will later be released into a suitable forest habitat.
