In a shocking incident that has gripped Ranchi, a woman was brutally shot dead by her husband in the Dorunda police station area on Saturday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Tannu alias Rani, a resident of Mani Tola. According to police, the prime suspect is her husband, Saheb Ansari, who fled the scene immediately after the crime.
Eyewitnesses in the neighborhood recounted hearing a sudden gunshot from the couple’s home around noon. As locals rushed to the spot, they saw Saheb running away. Inside the house, they found Rani lying in a pool of blood, with a fatal wound to her head. The horrifying discovery prompted residents to alert the Dorunda police station without delay.
Station House Officer Deepika Prasad arrived promptly with her team and secured the crime scene. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was summoned to collect evidence, including a pistol found near the body. Initial investigations suggest Saheb attempted to stage the killing as an accident.
Hatia Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pramod Kumar Mishra revealed that preliminary probes point to a domestic dispute fueled by Saheb’s alleged extramarital affair. Rani had been opposing his relationship with another woman, leading to frequent arguments. On Saturday, the tension escalated into a fatal confrontation where Saheb allegedly pulled the trigger.
Police have launched a massive manhunt for the absconding accused. Raids are ongoing in possible hideouts, and locals have been urged to provide any leads. This tragic case underscores the rising concerns over domestic violence in urban areas, where personal conflicts sometimes turn deadly.
Authorities are awaiting postmortem results to confirm the cause of death, while the investigation continues to uncover more details about the motive and the weapon’s origin. The community remains on edge, mourning the loss of a life cut short by betrayal and rage.
