Ranchi: Two youths riding a scooter died tragically in a road accident that took place in the Lalpur police station area of the capital Ranchi. Both the youths were passing between the Press Club and the Lokayukta office on the scooter. Meanwhile, an uncontrolled Thar jeep hit his scooter hard and crushed both the youths.
Late Saturday night, just before the city’s Karamtoli Chowk, a speeding Thar jeep crushed two youths riding a scooter between the Press Club and the Lokayukta office. In this incident, a youth riding the scooter died on the spot. While the other youth died while being taken to the hospital. Local people took both of them to RIMS with the help of police but doctors declared both of them dead. After the incident, angry people vandalized the vehicle. Lalpur police seized the vehicle from the spot. Identification of the deceased 27 year old Anuj Kumar and 25 year old Ankush Kumar.
Actually, this accident happened while turning the scooter near the Press Club and Lokayukta office. Lalpur police station in-charge Adikant Mahato said that both the youth riding the scooter were turning their scooter near the Lokayukta office. At the same time, a high speed Thar jeep (JH 01EN 0011) was going towards Karamtoli. Due to the high speed, the driver lost control and hit the scooter hard.
After hitting the scooter, the youth in the car tried to run away. But with the help of local people, one was caught. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the crowd, other youths in the car fled from the spot. The police team has seized the vehicle. Among the two youths who died in the accident, Anuj Kumar is a resident of Garhwa while Ankush Kumar is a resident of JP Road, Kanke Road, Ranchi.
According to local people, Anuj Kumar used to study while living in Ranchi, while Ankush Kumar was his friend. Police have seized the damaged Thar vehicle JH 01EN 0011. According to the police, the vehicle is registered in the name of Kavindra Ray (father Parmeshwar Ray). His current address is Lake Palace Apartment, Care of Cherry Agarwal, 1st Floor A-4, Missirgonda, Kanke Road, while his permanent address is Patel Nagar, Bhurkunda. Police is trying to reach the people traveling in the Thar. According to the local people, the people traveling in the vehicle were under the influence of alcohol and were returning from a party somewhere. A girl was also sitting in it.
