RANCHI: In a warm gesture bridging decades of political camaraderie, former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela called on Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Chief Minister’s office in the Jharkhand Assembly on Wednesday. The meeting, described as a courtesy visit, unfolded with nostalgic exchanges about shared political histories and enduring personal bonds.
Vaghela, a veteran leader with a storied career spanning multiple parties, presented Soren with a cherished photograph capturing a significant moment from the past. The image features the late Shibu Soren, fondly called ‘Dishom Guru’ and a towering figure in Jharkhand’s tribal politics, alongside Vaghela during their concurrent tenures as Members of Parliament. ‘This picture holds immense historical and emotional value,’ Vaghela remarked as he handed it over, evoking memories of collaborative efforts in national politics.
Hemant Soren, grandson of Shibu Soren and a key proponent of Jharkhand’s tribal rights, received the gift with gratitude. He expressed heartfelt thanks to Vaghela for preserving and sharing this piece of legacy, underscoring the deep respect between the two leaders.
The get-together also saw the presence of local legislator Mathura Prasad Mahato, adding a local flavor to the interstate political rendezvous. Such interactions highlight the underlying unity among India’s diverse regional leaders, often transcending party lines in moments of mutual admiration.
As political landscapes evolve, these personal connections serve as reminders of the human element in governance. Vaghela’s visit not only revived old memories but also symbolized continued solidarity in India’s federal structure, promising potential avenues for future collaborations between Gujarat and Jharkhand.
