Hemant Soren: The delivery of food-pija or the people doing such working people will give social security and their reasonable rights legally protect. It will be passed by the cabinet after the consent of the Law and Finance Department. Then, it will be introduced in the budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly starting on 24 February. The bill is named “The Jharkhand Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill”. Such provisions are being made in this bill, so that food delivery, drivers of companies like e-commerce companies, delivery boys, Ola-ubar-Rapido and driver of this nature working in this nature to minimum wedge, insurance, stypend and others Can achieve type of social security.

It is estimated that about 12 lakh people are engaged in such works in various districts of Jharkhand. Provision is being made in the bill that a platform will be developed to register such workers and each will be issued a unique ID.
“Jharkhand platform based Gig Workers Welfare Board” will be formed to hear the cases of Gig workers. The proposed draft of this bill was published by the government in the month of July last year, on which suggestions were sought from employer companies, gig workers and common people. (Hemant Soren)
Earlier, under the labor department of the state, Jharkhand State Minimum Wage Consultative Board had constituted a committee to study the status of Gig workers. The Jharkhand government has enacted a law to reserve 75 percent of the posts of Rs 40 thousand monthly salary in all private companies working in the state. Action has also been taken against hundreds of companies for not following this law.
