The Jamua Community Health Center in Giridih district is currently under scrutiny for its inefficient healthcare delivery and staff absenteeism. The facility is already operating with a significant shortage of MBBS doctors, pushing the responsibility of patient care onto Community Health Officers (CHOs). The problem has been compounded by the unexplained absence of a lab technician.
During a recent observation on Thursday, December 4th, it was noted that out of the three designated lab technicians, one, Nishant Kumar, was absent. Reports indicate that Kumar did not submit any leave application or inform the hospital authorities about his absence, a clear violation of administrative procedures. Medical Officer Dr. Kuldeep Tirkey confirmed that the lab technician was indeed absent and that no prior notification was received. This incident further highlights the challenges within the public health infrastructure, where the lack of doctors, insufficient medicines, and unaccounted absences of essential staff like lab technicians render the healthcare system ineffective, contradicting the state government’s stated commitment to enhancing health services.
