Grave allegations have surfaced in Giridih’s Chetadih area concerning a woman falsely representing herself as a ‘Sahia’ (community health volunteer). The accused, Anjali Devi, is alleged to be manipulating pregnant women, luring them away from public healthcare facilities with false promises. Her alleged modus operandi involves directing these women, often from impoverished backgrounds, to private hospitals where they are purportedly swindled out of substantial sums for medical treatment. Reports suggest that Devi operates in proximity to the Chetadih hospital, intercepting women seeking government aid. She allegedly uses her false credentials to gain their confidence before escorting them to private medical establishments for illicit financial transactions. A hotel reportedly owned by Devi near the hospital is believed to be central to these activities. The community is outraged by this exploitation of vulnerable women. Local representatives and concerned citizens are demanding that the health department launch a comprehensive investigation, impose severe penalties on the alleged imposter, and establish safeguards to prevent such abuses against pregnant women. This case highlights critical gaps in the public health support network.
