Koderma witnessed an important medico-legal awareness and health camp specifically for the senior citizens residing at the Jhumritilaiya Old Age Home. Organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, under the aegis of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, the event focused on enhancing the legal literacy and health of the elderly population. A key highlight was the virtual participation in an inauguration ceremony from Ranchi. The executive chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority officially opened the Mother Teresa Clinic at the Nagri Old Age Home and oversaw the distribution of welfare schemes, including crucial medical benefits, to its senior residents. The presiding dignitary, the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, delivered a powerful address on the ethical imperative of respecting elders. He stressed the District Legal Services Authority’s dedication to ensuring the rights of senior citizens are upheld and their fundamental entitlements are protected. The judge articulated that respect for elders is foundational to societal progress and expressed the honor the authority felt in serving the aged community. The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to providing free legal aid to safeguard the rights and entitlements of the elderly. He assured that efforts would be made to ensure the comfort and well-being of all residents in the old age home. The Koderma Health Department’s medical team conducted comprehensive health check-ups for all participating seniors. The Principal District Judge instructed the medical personnel to ensure continuous health monitoring and consistent availability of medications. He also made it a point to interact with the residents, checking on their well-being and the overall management of the facility. Furthermore, the District Legal Services Authority and District Administration collaborated to distribute essential items, including warm clothing like blankets, shawls, caps, and woolen wear, along with sweets and other vital supplies, to the elderly residents.
