The estimated value of the recovered ganja in the retail market is said to be around Rs 1.5 crore. Police have arrested the truck driver from the spot. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the matter is related to interstate smuggling gang.

Superintendent of Police Kapil Chaudhary had received secret information on the night of July 25 that a truck number UP-14 FT-6583 was carrying a huge quantity of illegal ganja from Bihar via Japla towards Chhatarpur. Taking the information seriously, on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, a special raid team of Hussainabad police station and armed forces was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Divyanshu Shukla.

After this, an intensive vehicle checking campaign was conducted near Gamhariya on Japla-Chhatarpur main road. During the investigation, the suspicious truck was stopped and searched. During the search, 320 kg of ganja, hidden in 10 plastic sacks, was recovered from a specially prepared wooden secret chamber inside the body of the truck.

On spot investigation with drug detection kit, the recovered material was confirmed to be ganja.

The arrested driver has been identified as Rajesh Yadav (45). In this case, under the case registered in Hussainabad police station, an FIR has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act and the process of sending the accused to judicial custody has been started.
