A tragic incident has occurred in the dense Saranda forests of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, where a brave heart of the CRPF’s elite CoBRA battalion lost his life. During an ongoing search operation against Naxalite forces, nature’s fury proved fatal for the security personnel. On Tuesday night, a violent thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain swept through the region, causing a massive tree to uproot and collapse directly onto the Babu Dera camp. Constable Rakesh Kumar, who was stationed at the camp, was caught under the weight of the falling tree and sustained life-threatening injuries. His fellow jawans immediately rushed to his aid, but the challenging terrain and weather conditions made initial rescue difficult. Recognizing the severity of his condition, the administration coordinated an emergency medical evacuation. By Wednesday morning, a helicopter was deployed to airlift Rakesh Kumar to a specialized medical facility in Ranchi. Despite the best efforts of the trauma specialists and doctors, he attained martyrdom during treatment. Rakesh Kumar was a dedicated soldier hailing from Dhamni village in the Daudnagar area of Aurangabad district, Bihar. His sacrifice has left the entire force in mourning, and his mortal remains will be sent to his native village following a formal guard of honor in Ranchi.
