In a dramatic showdown at Taljhari Mines in Godda’s Lalmatia area, a gang of 40-45 armed miscreants attempted a brazen cable theft on Tuesday evening around 7:30 PM. The organized raid targeted RS-16 section, but the vigilance of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) turned the tide.
The intruders surrounded on-duty CISF personnel, wielding sharp weapons and dangerous tools, aiming to slice and haul away valuable cables. Sensing the escalating danger, Quick Reaction Team (QRT-3) jawan Pawan Kumar displayed remarkable courage. In a bid for self-defense and to disperse the mob, he fired a warning shot into the air. The resounding blast sent the entire gang scampering into the night, abandoning their loot.
A thorough search of the site uncovered a horse, a tricycle, and ropes used for transporting the stolen cables. A Bolero vehicle (JH17E7581) suffered front glass damage during the chaos. Fortunately, no CISF personnel or civilians were harmed in the intense confrontation.
Though CISF maintains no permanent post at the location, regular patrols by QRT-3 proved lifesaving. This incident underscores the persistent threat of organized crime targeting industrial assets, even amid heightened surveillance and raids. Post-incident, security has been significantly beefed up across the mine perimeter.
Authorities are now conducting a detailed probe to track down the fugitives and dismantle their network. Pawan Kumar’s quick thinking has not only averted a potential catastrophe but also reinforced the critical role of disciplined security forces in safeguarding vital infrastructure.
