Kuldeep Dwivedi, a highly regarded Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The announcement was formalized through a notification released on Tuesday by the Department of Personnel and Training. Dwivedi, a 2005-batch IPS officer, is slated to serve until January 17, 2026, unless his five-year deputation concludes earlier or further instructions are given. In a related move, C. Venkat Subba Reddy, an IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre (2007 batch) and currently a DIG with the CBI, has also been named as a Joint Director. Reddy’s tenure is projected to extend until October 29, 2029, marking the completion of his five-year deputation period or until alternative orders are issued. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given its approval for the appointments of these two senior IPS officers to the Joint Director positions within the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as detailed in the notification from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
