Health Insurance Scheme: Jharkhand Cabinet has approved the much-awaited health insurance scheme for state employees and pensioners. Under this, they and their dependents will get the facility of cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year for common diseases and Rs 10 lakh for serious diseases. A total of 18 proposals, including the implementation of the revised insurance scheme, have been approved in the cabinet meeting held at the Jharkhand Ministry on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel gave this information.
A deduction of Rs 500 will be made out of the Rs 1,000 per month received by the state employees who join the coverage of the insurance scheme. Retired workers will be able to join this scheme voluntarily. To be included in its scope, they will have to deposit a lump sum of Rs 6,000 annually. About 1.75 lakh state employees and 2.25 lakh retired personnel will be benefited under this scheme. Apart from these, serving or retired officers and personnel of All India Services living in the state, former members of the Legislative Assembly, officials-employees, or retired personnel working in various boards-corporations and institutions can also take the coverage of the scheme on the basis of their wish. For the implementation of this scheme, the state government will utilize an amount of Rs 150 crore from the contingency fund, while Rs 50 crore will be kept in the trust of the State Health Society as a buffer stock. The government has signed an agreement with Tata AIG General Insurance Company for the scheme. It is noteworthy that the state government had earlier issued a resolution for health insurance for state employees and pensioners on July 31, 2023, but due to technical errors, its benefits did not start being available.
The Cabinet also approved the draft MoU with the Indian Airport Authority for communication, navigation and surveillance and air traffic management services at Dumka airport in the state. After this, the way will be paved to start regular flight services from this airport under the regional connectivity scheme ‘UDAN’.
According to another important decision, approval has been given to create posts of Senior Manager, Manager, Finance Manager and IT Executive in Medical College Hospitals, Sadar Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals and Community Health Centers of the state. The Cabinet has approved an amount of Rs 94,50,00,000 (Rs ninety-four crore fifty lakh) for computer education in middle schools of the state under Gyanodaya Scheme.
