In a brazen daylight attack, armed robbers targeted the Bank of India branch in Meharma, Godda district, sparking panic among locals. The dramatic incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when a group of unidentified criminals stormed the premises with clear intentions of looting the vault.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots as the security guard heroically confronted the intruders. Despite the fierce resistance, the guard sustained a bullet injury to his upper body. The robbers, unable to execute their plan amid the chaos, fled the scene empty-handed after a brief exchange of fire.

Local police swiftly arrived at the spot, cordoning off the area and launching an intensive manhunt. The injured guard was rushed to the nearest medical facility before being referred to Sadar Hospital in Godda for advanced treatment. Doctors have described his condition as stable but serious.

Authorities suspect the gang had been casing the bank for several days. Forensic teams are examining bullet casings and CCTV footage recovered from the site. This failed heist has raised serious concerns about bank security in rural areas, prompting calls for enhanced protective measures.

The community remains on edge as investigations continue. Police have assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in apprehending the culprits responsible for this audacious crime.
