BJP leader Babulal Marandi has accused the Jharkhand government of a deliberate cover-up, alleging that it is fabricating new crimes to hide the extent of illegal activities, particularly in the coal sector. Marandi claims that this practice of manufacturing offenses to obscure reality has become ingrained within the state’s governance. Recent ED raids in Dhanbad’s coal mafia network have uncovered significant evidence. The most alarming aspect, according to Marandi, is the alleged instruction from ‘influential police officials,’ purportedly benefiting from illicit coal money, to permanently silence key operatives of the coal mafia. This move is reportedly intended to obstruct the ED’s investigation by eliminating individuals under scrutiny. Marandi pointed out that the state has a history of ‘encountering evidence’ under the guise of law enforcement, referencing a past DGP accused of orchestrating contract killings and rampant corruption, facing accusations even from ruling party members. He urged the ED to proceed with extreme caution, highlighting that in Jharkhand, silencing the truth is rewarded. He stressed that when power structures, the official system, and criminal elements become intertwined, the perversion of justice is merely a procedural formality.
