Ranchi. In Jharkhand’s tender commission scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has got five more days’ remand of state government’s Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam. Earlier, after his arrest, ED had got six days’ remand for his questioning. After completion of its term on Wednesday, the minister was produced in the Special PMLA Court of Ranchi amid tight security. Alamgir Alam ED Remand

Public Prosecutor Shiv Kumar alias Kaka, representing the ED, had requested for seven more days’ remand of Alamgir Alam for questioning, which was opposed by the accused minister’s lawyer. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court ordered to extend the remand for five days. ED had arrested Minister Alamgir Alam on the evening of May 15 in connection with the recovery of Rs 32 crore 20 lakh cash from the premises of his PS Sanjeev Lal.

Before this, he was interrogated for a total of about 14 hours on 14th and 15th May. In this case, the minister’s PS Sanjeev Kumar Lal and his servant Jahangir Alam were arrested on May 7. Both of them have been interrogated on remand for 14 days and after being produced in the court on Tuesday, both have been sent to jail in judicial custody.

ED has told the court that an organized gang of engineers, officers and ministers was active in the tender commission scam in the Rural Development Department. As a sample, ED has also submitted a paper related to the details of 25 tenders worth Rs 92 crore passed in January in the court, in which it is clearly written that Minister Alamgir Alam had taken Rs 1.23 crore as commission in all the said 25 tenders.
