A harrowing incident of gang-rape has unfolded in the Godda district of Jharkhand, where a tribal minor girl was subjected to a brutal assault by ten individuals. The incident occurred in the Sunderpahadi police station area during a wedding. The minor girl had reportedly stepped away from the wedding festivities to relieve herself when the attack occurred.
Around ten young men saw the girl and, fueled by their violent intentions, seized her. They silenced her and dragged her to a remote spot within the village. There, they took turns committing the act of gang-rape. The news of the assault ignited outrage throughout the village. A local panchayat was convened to address the situation.
**Police Response**
Initial attempts were made to conceal the severity of the crime. However, when justice appeared elusive, the family of the victim reported the incident to the Sunderpahadi police station, naming the ten perpetrators. Responding with efficiency, the Sunderpahadi police apprehended eight of the accused. All those arrested reside within the Sunderpahadi police station area.
**Legal Action**
A medical assessment of the victim was completed, and charges were filed against the eight accused under the POSCO Act, among other relevant sections of the law. The police investigation is progressing, and efforts are being made to locate and apprehend the remaining two suspects. This heinous crime is particularly disturbing given a similar instance in the Godda district earlier.
**Another Incident in Bokaro**
In a separate instance in Bokaro, four men in the Sector-12 police station area assaulted a couple who were returning from the market. The men coerced the couple into drinking alcohol. The husband was then bound, and the wife was gang-raped in front of him. The Sector-12 police swiftly arrested the four involved in the crime.
