In a shocking turn of events during Holi celebrations in Giridih, Jharkhand, a 30-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death following a dispute over loud DJ music. The incident, which unfolded late Thursday night in Ravidas Mohalla under Hutti Bazaar, has ignited public fury, leading to a massive road blockade on Friday.
Ajay Kumar Das, the victim, was trying to pacify a minor altercation among children when tensions escalated. Eyewitnesses report that Ravi Das, a local resident with prior family tensions with Ajay, arrived with accomplices armed with knives and razors. In the violent attack, Ajay succumbed to his injuries at Giridih Sadar Hospital, while three others—Rajesh Das, Pardum Das, and Prem Das—remain in critical condition.
Outraged family members and locals jammed the road near Hatia Gate, demanding swift arrests. State Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu rushed to the scene, assuring justice and directing authorities to apprehend the culprits promptly. After assurances, the blockade was lifted.
Police have launched raids, confirming underlying family disputes fueled the tragedy. The postmortem is underway, and investigations continue amid heightened community tensions during the festive season. This incident underscores rising violence linked to petty disputes during public celebrations in the region.
