Ranchi is gearing up for a crucial legislative phase as the Jharkhand Assembly’s budget session kicks off on February 18 and runs through March 19. In a proactive move, Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto convened an all-party meeting on Friday to ensure smooth proceedings.

Addressing leaders from across the political spectrum, Speaker Mahto urged unanimous cooperation for the session’s success. He emphasized that constructive, fact-based debates in the house could effectively address public grievances. ‘Logical discussions backed by data will pave the way for meaningful solutions,’ he stated, while expecting satisfactory responses from the government to members’ queries.

To facilitate this, directives have been issued to all departments to complete preparations promptly. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who attended the meeting, affirmed the government’s readiness. ‘We’re fully prepared, and valuable suggestions emerged from today’s discussions. Together, we’ll deliberate on key state issues,’ Soren remarked post-meeting.

The meeting saw participation from key figures including CM Soren, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radha Krishna Kishore, Opposition Leader Babulal Marandi, Congress legislature party leader Pradeep Yadav, RJD leader Suresh Paswan, and AJSU MLA Nirmal Mahto. Earlier, the Speaker had met senior state officials to streamline session arrangements.

Officials were instructed to provide precise answers to questions, fulfill assurances, and ensure top officers’ presence during proceedings for real-time information support to ministers. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kishore stressed inter-departmental coordination, orderly presentation of proposals, and addressed security, documentation, and accountability concerns in detail.

As Jharkhand navigates economic challenges, this session holds promise for robust policy debates and advancements in public welfare initiatives. Stakeholders are optimistic about a disruption-free house, setting the stage for productive lawmaking.
