Patna’s political landscape heated up as JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad took a sharp dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) amid swirling rumors of appointing Tejashwi Yadav as the party’s executive president. Prasad warned that Tejashwi’s dual responsibilities as opposition leader and party executive could spell doom for RJD.

In an exclusive interview, Prasad painted a grim picture of RJD’s declining fortunes. ‘Ever since Tejashwi’s role expanded, RJD has weakened at the grassroots level,’ he asserted. ‘Now talks of crowning him executive president raise serious questions. His irresponsible conduct as Leader of Opposition is already evident—doubling up might just destroy the party entirely.’

Prasad didn’t hold back on Tejashwi’s recent remarks invoking Karpoori Thakur. ‘Leaders like Karpoori didn’t become icons overnight,’ he countered. ‘It took years of dedication, public service, and bold decisions. Tejashwi can’t shortcut that by name-dropping.’

He acknowledged Lalu Prasad Yadav’s roots in the JP movement but dismissed Tejashwi’s attempts to borrow that legacy. ‘Party workers see through this bravado,’ Prasad said. ‘RJD’s sinking ship won’t be saved by tired rhetoric. Internal dissent—from Rohini Acharya’s posts to Veerendra and others—signals deepening cracks.’

Extending his critique to national politics, Prasad commented on Naseemuddin Siddiqui’s resignation from Congress in Uttar Pradesh. ‘Congress is hurtling toward oblivion under Rahul Gandhi,’ he observed. ‘Unable to play a responsible opposition, it’s alienating true loyalists. Siddiqui’s exit underscores this reality, urging much-needed introspection amid widespread criticism.’

As Bihar braces for more electoral battles, JD(U)’s barbs highlight the intensifying rivalry with RJD, with both sides bracing for a turbulent political season ahead.
