In a remarkable display of efficiency, Jammu Police’s South Zone has achieved a major breakthrough in the first 57 days of 2026. Through a series of targeted operations, officers recovered stolen and missing property valued at nearly 90 lakh rupees. The success was showcased during a press conference at the Model Police Station Gandhinagar, where Superintendent of Police South Jammu handed over recovered items to their rightful owners.

The triumphs stemmed from three key initiatives: Operation Reconnect, Operation Avatar, and Operation Meghdoot. Leading the pack, Operation Reconnect saw a compact Electronic Surveillance Unit team retrieve 196 missing mobile phones worth about 68 lakh rupees. Under Sergeant Rishi Abrol’s leadership, the squad utilized inter-state coordination, technical analysis, and relentless tracking based on reported missing devices across Jammu. Of these, 36 phones were returned prior to the event, with the remaining 160 handed back after completing legal formalities.

Shifting gears to Operation Avatar, the Gandhinagar Police Station cracked a significant motorcycle theft case. Following Sergeant Vinay Kumar’s complaint under FIR 34/2026, a team led by Inspector Jaypal Sharma, PSI Nadeem Akram, and ASI Pintu Kumar delved into technical surveillance and JMC Smart City CCTV footage. Their efforts led to the arrest of two suspects, Mansa Chaudhary and Abdul Rehman. Interrogations uncovered 15 additional stolen two-wheelers, including Hero Splendor bikes, a Pulsar RS200, and a Scooty Pleasure, totaling around 12 lakh rupees in value.

Capping off the victories, Operation Meghdoot addressed a major salon theft. Gandhinagar Police arrested one culprit and recovered salon equipment worth approximately 10 lakh rupees. These operations highlight the power of preventive policing, advanced technical surveillance, and the robust Smart City CCTV network, setting a high standard for law enforcement in the region. Authorities continue to process returns and pursue remaining leads to ensure community safety.
