India is set to host the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship in Ahmedabad, a historic first for the nation. The event, which will feature participants from over 30 countries and more than 1000 athletes, is set to transform Ahmedabad into a leading aquatic center in Asia. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, revealed the official logo and mascot, ‘Jalveer,’ an energetic aquatic superhero, in New Delhi, in the presence of senior officials from the Swimming Federation of India (SFI). The championship is scheduled to take place at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex from September 28 to October 11, 2025, a state-of-the-art facility built to meet Olympic standards. Indian swimmers will have an invaluable chance to compete against the top athletes in Asia. The championship also serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 Asian Games. The mascot, ‘Jalveer,’ is designed to instill inspiration in the next wave of swimmers, signifying strength, nimbleness, and national pride. Gujarat views the championship as a strategic move towards its goal of bidding for the 2036 Olympic Games. This event highlights the development of a sporting legacy through investments in top-tier infrastructure.
