External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will undertake a visit to France and Belgium from June 8th to 14th, focusing on bolstering bilateral relations and promoting India’s stance against terrorism. The visit will involve meetings with French and Belgian officials, alongside a strategic dialogue with the European Union. In France, Jaishankar will meet with French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot and participate in the Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue. These discussions will serve as a platform to brief counterparts on India’s military actions against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled areas and its revised counter-terrorism strategy. The trip also celebrates the 25th year of the India-France strategic partnership. In Brussels, Jaishankar will engage in strategic discussions with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and meet with key figures from the European Commission and Parliament. This visit aligns with the ongoing efforts to finalize a free trade agreement, with a deadline set for the end of the year. Discussions will be held with Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot. The visit intends to deepen ties with the EU, France, and Belgium while fostering collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, and green energy.
