JAIPUR – A terrifying incident unfolded on a busy Jaipur road Friday afternoon when a Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) bus burst into flames, carrying around 60 passengers. Miraculously, all aboard escaped without injury as the vehicle was reduced to ashes in just half an hour.
The fire erupted near Mansarovar RICO Circle around 2:40 PM. The bus was en route from Sindhi Camp bus stand to Kekri when thick smoke began billowing from its interior, quickly turning into raging flames.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic inside the bus as passengers scrambled for safety. The driver acted swiftly, pulling the vehicle to the roadside and ordering everyone to evacuate. Within minutes, all 60 travelers had safely disembarked.
Firefighters from Mansarovar station rushed to the scene with two tenders. Led by officer Shakuntala Saini, the team battled the blaze for about 30 minutes before gaining control. Preliminary investigations point to a short circuit in the wiring system, which ignited near the engine and spread rapidly.
No casualties were reported, and police confirmed everyone was accounted for. Authorities have launched a detailed probe into the exact cause and the extent of damage to prevent future mishaps. This close call underscores the need for regular vehicle maintenance in public transport.
RSRTC officials expressed relief over the safe evacuation and promised a thorough review of their fleet’s electrical systems. The incident caused minor traffic disruptions but was cleared promptly.
