Jabalpur Airport faced a security scare following a bomb threat conveyed via email, resulting in widespread alarm. The email indicated the presence of an explosive device within the airport terminal. Authorities immediately responded, evacuating the premises and deploying specialized teams. A comprehensive search, lasting approximately three hours, was conducted, but no explosive materials were found. The Khamaria police have initiated a formal investigation, registering a case against an unknown individual. Separately, IndiGo has announced the discontinuation of its Jabalpur-Bhopal flights due to low passenger numbers. The final flight on this route will operate on Tuesday. These cancellations add to a series of route suspensions from Jabalpur, impacting six major routes, including services to Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Pune. Despite the substantial investment in airport expansion, the reduction in flight operations presents a persistent concern. The continuous flight cancellations are affecting Jabalpur’s air service, and causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
