Gujarat is set to observe a day of state mourning in honor of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who perished in the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The funeral will take place in Rajkot on Monday. The state government has issued directives to lower the national flag to half-mast on all official buildings and to cancel any planned official entertainment. DNA testing is ongoing to identify the victims of the crash, with 86 bodies confirmed so far. The tragic incident involved Air India Flight 171, bound for London, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, resulting in a total of 270 deaths. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the crash and has recovered the plane’s black box. The airline is providing support to affected families, including assistance with repatriation and other needs.
