The commissioning of INS Mahe, a cutting-edge indigenous shallow-water combat vessel, served as the backdrop for Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi to emphasize the paramount importance of synergy in the Indian armed forces. He identified ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a stellar example of this coordinated strength, highlighting how joint operations are crucial for national security in today’s complex multi-domain environment. Dwivedi articulated that the effective convergence of the Army, Navy, and Air Force across all operational theaters, from maritime depths to high-altitude frontiers, is fundamental to India’s security influence. He noted that Operation Sindoor, conducted in Pakistan after a terror incident in April 2025, effectively demonstrated this unified military capability. The Army Chief further discussed the Indian Army’s ongoing transformation, with jointness and integration as central tenets, preparing for the hybrid nature of future conflicts. He also recognized the vital contributions of the Indian Navy in asserting influence both regionally and globally, often in partnership with the Army, and looked forward to its expansion into a potent, interconnected maritime force.
