A horrific road accident in Indore has claimed three lives, including the daughter of a former home minister. The tragedy unfolded late last night on the busy Vijay Nagar road, turning a routine drive into a fatal collision.
Eyewitnesses described a high-speed car smashing into a truck parked on the roadside. The impact was so severe that the sedan crumpled like paper, trapping occupants inside twisted metal. Rescue teams battled flames and debris for over an hour to extricate the victims.
Among the deceased was Priya Sharma, 28, daughter of former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Rajendra Sharma. She was returning from a family event with two friends when disaster struck. Priya, a promising lawyer, had recently joined a top firm in the city.
Her companions, identified as Rohan Gupta, 30, a businessman, and Neha Patel, 26, a teacher, also perished at the scene. Local police suspect speeding and poor visibility due to fog as primary causes. The truck driver fled but was later apprehended hiding nearby.
Indore’s traffic police have launched an investigation, promising strict action against negligence. Rajendra Sharma, devastated, rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news. ‘My daughter was my world,’ he told reporters, voice breaking.
This incident highlights ongoing road safety woes in Indore, where over 500 fatalities were recorded last year. Authorities vow tighter enforcement of speed limits and better lighting on highways. The city mourns as funeral arrangements begin tomorrow.
