A top Army official has lauded ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a clear reflection of India’s formidable operational capabilities and its firm stance against terrorism. Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, GOC-in-C of the South Western Command, detailed the exclusive operation that successfully targeted and destroyed nine terror camps, serving as a direct reprisal for the brutal April 22 Pahalgam attack. He highlighted the meticulous planning and execution, which involved the joint efforts of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. On May 7, a swift and precise strike neutralized over 100 terrorists within a mere 20-22 minute timeframe. “Our objective was clear: there should be no collateral damage. We succeeded in this mission – even nearby buildings were not harmed. This clearly reflects our high capability in surveillance and targeting,” Lieutenant General Singh stated. The operation’s success extended to thwarting subsequent Pakistani attempts to attack Indian military bases on May 8 and 9, with all incoming threats being intercepted. Following this, India initiated a counter-attack that reportedly decimated 11 Pakistani air force bases, leading to Pakistan’s ‘panic’ and subsequent proposal for a ceasefire. Lieutenant General Singh emphasized that India’s policy post-2014 signifies that any terror attack will be viewed as an ‘act of war,’ a sentiment echoed by the political leadership’s directive to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and support networks. The naming of ‘Operation Sindoor’ itself signifies the purpose and determination behind the mission, granting military commanders the freedom to act decisively based on their assessment.
