The Indian Army’s indigenous weapons played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor, forcing Pakistan to its knees. The 105 mm gun, a key element of that operation, is now slated to make a resounding return, this time at the Red Fort. On August 15th, during the 79th Independence Day festivities, a 21-gun salute will be delivered using the indigenous Light Field Gun. Preparations are in full swing. For the last three years, these indigenous guns have been providing the 21-gun salute during the Independence Day celebrations. The indigenous 105 mm Indian Field Gun will fire 21 rounds over the 52 seconds of the national anthem. Previously, the British 25 Pounder Gun was used at the Red Fort for this occasion. This marks India’s progress toward self-sufficiency in defense, showcasing the power of homegrown artillery.
