KOLKATA: BJP leader Dilip Ghosh lit up discussions in Kharagpur, West Bengal, by hailing the upcoming India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match as a spectacle that always ignites unparalleled thrill. ‘This isn’t just cricket; it’s a whirlwind of emotions and high-stakes drama,’ Ghosh declared, capturing the pulse of fans across the border.

Turning his guns on the West Bengal government, Ghosh slammed the decision to bring in Lionel Messi for promotional stunts aimed at swaying elections. ‘The money extracted from taxpayers for this gimmick must be returned. Election funds won’t cover it, and the public deserves their cash back,’ he asserted, underscoring the misuse of resources amid disappointing poll outcomes.

Ghosh praised the central government’s infrastructure push, noting how runways are being transformed into highways, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally inspecting them. In his own constituency, a three-kilometer runway has been upgraded into a heliport. ‘I urge the PM to visit and test this facility—it will boost local morale and put the area on the map,’ he added enthusiastically.

On law and order, Ghosh expressed deep concern over rising crimes in the state. ‘The government and police stand idle because culprits are linked to the ruling party. Citizens live in fear due to this breakdown,’ he warned, calling for immediate action.

Earlier, reacting to Bangladesh’s elections where BNP emerged victorious, Ghosh urged their leadership to govern peacefully and propel the nation forward. He also criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for indulging in temple-mosque politics, asking Bengal’s people to choose between development and divisive tactics.
