New Delhi is keeping a close watch on the unfolding tensions in West Asia and the Gulf region, with a sharp focus on the safety of Indian nationals stranded there on transit or short visits. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has rolled out comprehensive advisories to ensure their well-being amid the chaos.

All Indian citizens in the region are urged to stick to local authorities’ instructions and the latest updates from the nearest Indian embassy or consulate. Every Indian mission in these countries has issued detailed guidelines and set up round-the-clock helplines to address concerns arising from the current situation.

To streamline support, the MEA has launched a dedicated control room manned around the clock, monitoring queries from affected individuals and their families while providing prompt responses.

Airspaces in the region have partially reopened in recent days, allowing both Indian and foreign airlines to resume commercial flights, including special charters. These operations aim to bring back Indians stuck on transit or short trips. Between March 1 and 7, 2026, over 52,000 Indians have safely returned home via these flights, with 32,107 using Indian carriers. More flights are slated for the coming days to accelerate the process.

For areas without commercial flights, Indians are advised to contact their local embassy or consulate for guidance on the nearest available options.

Safeguarding Indians abroad remains the government’s top priority. New Delhi is working hand-in-glove with regional governments to extend all possible aid to those in need, underscoring India’s commitment to its diaspora.
