    The National Sickle Cell Elimination Mission is set to screen approximately 70 million people under 40 for sickle cell disease by 2025-26. This ambitious project, a component of the National Health Mission (NHM), will be rolled out across 17 states, with a focus on screening tribal populations. The states involved include Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The program encompasses universal screening efforts as well as newborn and antenatal screenings.
