As tensions escalate across the Middle East, Indian embassies in key hotspots have rolled out urgent advisories for citizens. The Embassy of India in Beirut has urged all Indian nationals in Lebanon to steer clear of unnecessary travel, stay vigilant, and strictly follow local security and emergency guidelines.
In a statement released on Sunday, the embassy highlighted the precarious situation in the region. ‘Given the current circumstances, all Indian citizens in Lebanon should avoid non-essential travel, remain alert, and adhere to locally issued security and emergency directives,’ it stated. For emergencies, citizens are advised to reach out via mobile at +96176860128 or email.
This comes on the heels of India’s expression of deep concern over recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called on all parties to exercise restraint, prevent further deterioration, and prioritize civilian safety.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that all Indian missions in the area are in touch with nationals on the ground, advising caution and compliance with local protocols. Similar warnings have emanated from the Indian Embassy in Tehran, instructing Indians in Iran to exercise extreme vigilance, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay indoors where possible.
In Qatar, the Embassy in Doha has echoed these sentiments, asking citizens to heed instructions from local authorities and the mission. UAE-based missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have jointly advised against non-essential trips and to follow safety directives closely.
Qatar’s advisory specifically warns against approaching military sites and urges people to remain indoors as much as possible for public safety. India has reiterated the need for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions, while emphasizing respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
With the situation fluid, the Indian government is monitoring developments closely and stands ready to issue further updates. Indian nationals are encouraged to register with embassy services and keep emergency contacts handy.
