India has officially converted its Technical Mission in Kabul into the Embassy of India in Afghanistan, effective immediately. This strategic decision signifies a robust commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the upgrade is a testament to India’s desire for deeper cooperation on all fronts of mutual importance. The newly established embassy will play a pivotal role in channeling India’s support for Afghanistan’s progress, humanitarian aid, and development programs, aligning with the aspirations of the Afghan people.

The announcement followed a significant meeting between India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in the Indian capital. Their talks focused on key regional developments and areas of shared concern.

Minister Jaishankar reiterated India’s long-standing support for the Afghan people and affirmed the nation’s dedication to Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He expressed confidence that the enhanced embassy status will foster greater collaboration, contributing to both Afghanistan’s national development and overall regional stability.
