New Delhi’s political corridors are buzzing with fresh controversy as Congress MP Imran Masood launches a scathing attack on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. In an exclusive interview, Masood accused Birla of failing to uphold his constitutional duties, a lapse he says is undermining the sanctity of India’s lower house.

‘Speaker is the guardian of the House,’ Masood asserted emphatically. ‘He must operate within established parliamentary traditions, but that’s not happening. The dignity of the Chair is being deeply wounded by the ongoing chaos inside Parliament.’

The outspoken MP highlighted how critical national discussions are being derailed. ‘Everyone must participate in the nation’s growth,’ he stressed. ‘Without collective involvement, development remains elusive. We should focus on real issues, not dodge weaknesses by diverting attention.’

Masood specifically pointed to the uproar over former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s book, which he believes deserves serious parliamentary scrutiny. ‘The content raises grave concerns that demand investigation,’ he said. ‘Read it first, then probe what’s written. Instead, the BJP government keeps misleading the public and even got the book banned.’

Turning to sports diplomacy, Masood expressed outrage over the confirmed India-Pakistan cricket match on February 15. ‘Curse on Pakistan’s team! I’m totally against any ties with them post-Pulwama. Playing in Dubai after the attack was shameful. No matches with Pakistan since that tragedy.’

As tensions simmer, Masood’s remarks underscore deepening rifts in Parliament, urging a return to substantive debates for the country’s progress.
